Langham Partnership

Seven members of the parish attended a recent event hosted in Cedar and Circle presented by Langham Partnership. Why were they there and why does Langham exist?

To find out more, visit their site and explore their pages.

In summary they seek to answer a need which exists in countries all around the Christian world where pastors are unable to obtain good quality training, and so the church lacks clarity on what the bible teaches. They comment:

Every church deserves a well-equipped pastor

“80% of pastors in the Majority World lack any formal training. We equip pastors around the world to preach God’s Word because this is how God changes lives and communities.”

If we compare it to other mission agencies, the big difference is that they do not have any missionaries, as such. Rather Langham visits overseas countries to offer short intense periods of training, so that the locals, now better qualified pastors, are in a better position to help the whole church grow.

You (and they) can see both good, and appallingly bad teaching on the likes of e.g. YouTube or Tiktok. This can lead to new Christians being caught up in the lies of the prosperity gospel, or other very liberal outlooks, and, as a result, churches lose their way.

The recent event in Cedar & Circle helped us understand more about the valuable work they do. The Partnership was formed originally by Dr John R W Stott and other Christian leaders in that era, and contrinues to be a vital ministry in a world which needs to hear and understand God’s truth.
