On Sunday 2nd August the Rev Brian Harper, Rural Dean, will present Mrs Heather Barnett to the Diocesan Warden of Readers, Rev Canon Amanda Adams, to be commissioned as a Parish Reader. It is due DV to take place in the context of Parish Communion.

Heather is a native of Coleraine having been a member of St Patrick’s most of her life. The role of a Parish Reader is to assist those acting in the role of rector by leading worship as a member of the team. Unlike a Lay Reader, she is not authorised to lead worship on her own or to preach. Her ability in both reading scripture and leading intercessions has been recognised by the clergy team, and now by the rural dean and warden of readers, and so the act of commissioning is due to take place on Sunday at 10:00 in St Patrick’s.

At 11:30 a service of Holy Communion is due to take place in St Andrew’s also led by the Rural Dean.
